The Naruto series has declined, or rather, failed to improve ever since the Pein Saga. I won't say it got worse, because in all reality it didn't. It just didn't improve and stayed stagnant. The War Arc was more of a let down, but still had pretty decent fights and interactions in it.
The only parts I will admit are a bit of a baggage portion for the series is the general handling of the Juubi, in both it's transformations and those who have taken power over it. And no, I do not mind the Shinju.
I personally feel as if Madara shouldn't have been made the Jin. As now, he's at such a high level we realize that we'll be forced to accept a course of action that will lead to his defeat versus genuinely believing that it is possible, which would be the outcome with a Sage Madara with one or both eyes.
It's not perfect, but it's not entirely garbage or bad.

Give your series like two more years... You'll see what happens. Every shonen has this honeymoon phase

cosman agreed, it happens in every lengthy story. Even Hitchiker's guide to galaxy (not a manga but meh) was not giving me the same taste after 2-3 books. And it is loads better than Naruto. The thing is Naruto feeds fanaticism a lot. Everything is like an intense Football game in the manga, Kishi makes manga in such ways that you root for something. Shit ton of rivalaries (every character has them or have people they want to get beyond), matchups, surpassing theme overall everything is leading most people to shift and choose one side. Same thing applies to me, not gonna lie. When it comes to fiction i like matters of art, martial arts, politics, history, science fiction. I always root for underdog and despise choosen ones. I was like 18 when i started to watch Naruto, Lee ve Gaara actually made me cheer (internally) for a fictional character! I like action Based stuff but the battle made my mouth gape open because it...was able to "poke" something in my insides (lol) that i always rooted for and have liking. And people have the same for different characters. Almost all of them have certain things that make people hate or love them. Hatred is a part of humanity too, people want to hate as much as they want to love. This conflicts make people bound to Naruto. Anyway i made it too lengthy. As far as "why i still read it" because i wanted to see what the characters i rooted for end up as. Now, Gai is going gates hammer and Lee is getting development. Gaara is relevant too, Orochimaru seems to being up to something.
